// why it matters

Caps are stitched on a tubular frame against a curved, moving surface, so a flat-garment file will not survive the run.

Cap files must stitch bottom-up and centre-out so the fabric is anchored progressively rather than pushed ahead of the needle, and designs must respect the crown seam and the limited sewing field of your cap frame.

Every File Format You Need

We build for structured and unstructured caps, trucker mesh, beanies and visors, adjusting density for buckram-backed fronts and softer crowns alike. Where a design suits it, we can prepare the same logo as flat embroidery and as 3D puff so you have both options ready for production.

Cap Digitizing — Answered

Why do cap files need special digitizing?

Caps stitch on a curved, tubular frame. Files must run bottom-up and centre-out so fabric is held down as the design grows — a flat-garment file pushes material ahead of the needle and misregisters.

How big can a cap design be?

Most cap frames allow around 2–2.5 inches tall and up to 5 inches wide. Tell us your machine and frame and we will size the design to fit.

Do you handle the centre seam?

Yes — we plan element placement and stitch direction around the crown seam so nothing sinks or splits across it.

Can the same logo work flat and in 3D puff?

Often yes, with adjustments. We can supply both versions so you can offer customers a choice.
